It’s been my privilege to have served as minister of our church since 1997, in partnership with Cassie.

I grew up in a non-Christian family. In 1979, I met a man who spoke to me about God. I didn’t need too much convincing that the world, and my life wasn’t the way God intended it to be. It was stunning to hear that God’s Son Jesus had died to pay for all my sin, and that forgiveness was now on offer. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse.

Cassie became a Christian during her teenage years growing up in Kuala Lumpur. For her, it started with a fascination about a curious Western festival called Christmas. Her curiosity led to some unexpected answers about a God who loves us so much that He sent His Son into our world. The message of forgiveness and peace with God was compelling.

My formative years as a Christian were during my university student days. I trained for ministry at Moore Theological College and Christ College.

Cassie and I  have two adult children, Andrew and Elissa. Our passion is to share the gospel, teach the Bible, and help others to honour God in their lives.

The most significant thing about me is that I am a disciple of Jesus. It was as I grew up in Port Macquarie as a youth that I came to understand what this meant.

As a teenager, I spent a lot of time thinking about the ultimate questions of life – where the world came from; where is it going; and the purpose of my life. I began to read about Jesus and His life through the gospel of John, and came to trust in him as my Lord and Saviour.

Having studied at university in Sydney and getting married to Joanne, I returned to Port Macquarie in 1997 to work as a school teacher, and later in the building industry. Then, after completing a two-year ministry apprenticeship at church, it was back to Sydney to study for a Bachelor of Theology at Christ College.

I love soccer, cycling, chess and spending time with Jo-Anne and our five children: Helen, Meredith, Ross, David and Justine. As well as serving half-time as the Assistant Minister, I also work as a school chaplain and run a building business.

At church my special focus is leading our children’s, youth and young adult ministries.
